Malcom McLaren, genius, eclectic individual, who, along her wife Vivienne Westwood – created the iconic SEX Boutique in London – , codified the punk subculture during the Seventies, changing the face of music, fashion and style. He was well known as the creator of the British punk band Sex Pistols and later of band Bow Wow Wow. A catalyst of ideas, signs and culture as it has also evidenced by his work as singer. I like to remember the music track he made “Deep in Vogue” from the early Eighties, where he developed a trend arisen in the gay clubbing scene since the Sixties, the “Voguing” dance ( which, later, in the early Nineties Madonna brought into the pop culture with the music video “Vogue “). In 1980, he asked to the writer Barry Cain for helping to make his story, “Malcom McLaren: the autobiography”( Red Planet, 368 pages, $26.95), whichwill be released on 3rd March 2020. A not to be missed book to know more about an age, its culture, an awesome mind and his brilliant work.

Noto come il creatore e manager della band punk inglese Sex Pistols e successivamente di Bow Wow Wow. Un catalizzatore di idee, segni e cultura come è dimostrato anche dal suo lavoro di cantante. Mi piace ricordare la sua traccia musicale “Deep in Vogue”, risalente ai primi anni Ottanta, in cui ha consolidato un trend nato nella scena dei club gay a partire dagli anni Sessanta, il ballo “Voguing” ( che più tardi, agli inizi degli anni Novanta Madonna ha sdoganato nella cultura pop con il video musicale “Vogue”). Nel 1980, ha chiesto allo scrittore Barry Cain di aiutarlo a realizzare la sua storia, “Malcom McLaren: the autobiography”( Red Planet, 368 pages, $26.95), che sarà pubblicato il 3 marzo 2020. Un libro imperdibile per conoscere di più su un’ epoca, la sua cultura, una superba mente e il suo brillante lavoro.
It will be released on 24th May 2019 “California Son”(BMG), the latest album of Morrisey, featuring a smashing series of covers, twelve tracks from Sixties and Seventies under the sign of pop, glam rock and folk suggestions. Awesome is “It’s over”, celebrated track by Roy Orbison he performed along the bright singer LP where his melancholic sign enhances its own intensity. A must have for all the ones who enjoy the work of a genuine artist.

Sarà pubblicato il 24 maggio 2019 “California Son”(BMG), il nuovo album di Morrisey, di cui è protagonista una formidabile serie di cover, dodici brani degli anni Sessanta e Settanta all’ insegna di suggestioni pop, glam rock e folk. Meravigliosa “It’s over”, celebre traccia di Roy Orbison da lui eseguita unitamente alla brillante cantante LP in cui il suo segno malinconico ne esalta l’ intensità. Un must have per tutti coloro che apprezzano il lavoro di un autentico artista.
It successfully runs through 7th May 2018 at the London Gallery Lazinc the exhibition “Ash from Chaos”, which showcases the works by Joe Corrè(, bright fashion designer, businessman, who created yesterday the celebrated luxury lingerie brand Agent Provocateur, and later the sartorial clothing brand A Child of the Jago and the make-up brand Illamasqua and strong social activism, focused on the protection of environment and the climate revolution), that arise from “Burn Punk London”, initiative he made on 26th November 2016 which took place in London in a boat on the Thames where precious memorabilia of punk were burned by him.

A destructive act of protest against the commodification by the mainstream of a counterculture movement, which has turned into art, more specifically into a series of artworks – made of the ashes arisen from funeral pyre of punk. The proceeds arising from their sale will be entirely donated to a charity – and a part of documentary film he made( which is currently work in progress), accompanying this awesome showcase and giving rise to a marvelous alchemy, emphasizing the message underlying to this gesture: “to question on price and value” , as Joe( embodying at best the assertiveness, modesty, romanticism, which is not that consisting to give as a gift roses to the one you love, but to follow and make concrete the idea of freedom and humanity, pleased to tell you more about him his bright visions and ideas soon) says and stop to be passive, developing a conscious way of thinking which is respectful of the world surrounding us.

Prosegue felicemente fino al 7 maggio 2018 presso la Galleria d’ arte di Londra Lazinc la mostra “Ash from Chaos” che espone le opere di Joe Corrè(, brillante fashion designer, uomo d’ affari che ha creato ieri il celebre marchio di lingerie di lusso Agent Provocateur, successivamente il marchio di abbigliamento sartoriale A Child of the Jago, e fervente attivista nel sociale, impegnato nella protezione dell’ ambiente e nella climate revolution), le quali nascono da “Burn Punk London”, iniziativa da lui posta in essere il 26 novembre 2016 che ha avuto luogo a Londra in una barca sul Tamigi, in cui sono state da lui bruciate memorabilia del punk.

Un atto distruttivo di protesta contro la mercificazione da parte del mainstream di un movimento di controcultura che si è trasformato in arte, più specificatamente in una serie di opere d’ arte – fatto delle ceneri della pira funeraria del punk. I proventi derivanti dalla loro vendita saranno devoluti per intero a un’ associazione di beneficienza – unitamente a un frammento della pellicola documentaristica, un racconto, un’ esperienza visiva unica (che sta per essere ultimato) che accompagna questa fantastica rassegna che dà vita a una meravigliosa alchimia ed enfatizza il messaggio sotteso a tale gesto: “interrogarsi su prezzo e valore”, come afferma Joe( il quale incarna al meglio assertività, modestia, romanticismo – che non ciò che consiste nel regalare rose a cui si ama ma seguire e concretizzare l’ idea di libertà – e umanità, lieta di raccontare presto altro ancora su di lui, sulle sue brillanti visioni ed idee) e smettere di essere passivi, consolidando un modo di pensare consapevole e rispettoso del mondo che ci circonda.

Mina Murray is a talented photographer – calling herself a “polagrapher”, as it uses polaroids along with film photography in smashing ways -, based in Paris who recently made an awesome photo shooting – made by using for the make-up vegan products by Vegan Mania, E.L.F. and Ecco Bella – featuring the vibrant and bright multi-disciplinary artist, author and songwriter France de Griessen. It’s a dreamlike landscape, an intimist tale which is peopled by delicacy, mystery, incisiveness and art, where it appears the music and its tracks, the ones that are impressed on the skin of France along with the instrument she plays, the guitar, a Fender Paramount Standard Parlor.

It was released the trailer of NU(I)T, artistic project joining different disciplines as film, performance art, music and poetry, ideated by the iconic, vibrant artist and beloved friend Alex Zapak aka The Countess, who is the founder of art movement The Cunt Rock Revolution, band and artistic collective later turned into The Countess and Cun$t Rock Revolution and the Bank of Imaginations Theatre. This project has previewed weeks ago in Berlin during the fashion week and featured the live performance of The Stooges. I am very pleased of talking about NU(I)T, arising from the creativity of a visionary artist as well as I am into all that, or rather I am as poem, “Poem for Nunzia” – which follows – Alex wrote and gave me as a gift. That is much more than a gift, it’s electricity, energy and its sharing, a value I celebrate. Hopefully I will tell you soon more about this marvelous project as well as new dates, not to be missed happenings to discover and enjoy The Countess.

NU(I)T, IL VISIONARIO PROGETTO ARTISTICO DI THE COUNTESS

È stato pubblicato il trailer di NU(I)T, progetto artistic che unisce differenti discipline quali il cinema, la performance, musica e poesia, ideato dall’ iconica, vibrante artista e cara amica Alex Zapak aka The Countess, fondatrice del movimento artistico The Cunt Rock Revolution, band e collettivo artistico poi trasformato in The Countess and Cun$t Rock Revolution e del Bank of Imaginations Theatre. Questo progetto è stato presentato in anteprima settimane fa a Berlino in occasione della fashion week ed ha avuto quale protagonista l’ esibizione dal vivo degli Stooges. Mi rallegra oltremodo parlare di NU(I)T, poichè è il prodotto della creatività di un’ artista visionaria e anche perché ci sono al suo interno, o meglio ci sono sotto forma di poesia, “Poem for Nunzia” – che equivale a “Poesia per Nunzia” il cui testo segue e ho deliberatamente mantenuto nella lingua originale – che Alex mi ha scritto e donato. Ciò è molto più di un dono, è elettricità, energia e la sua condivisione, un valore che celebro. Sperabilmente presto vi dirò di più su questo meraviglioso lavoro come anche nuove date, eventi imperdibili per scoprire e apprezzare The Countess.

I am pleased of sharing the following piece, released days ago on Dazed Digital, the virtual platform of British magazine Dazed & Confused talking about the next campaign of Marc Jacobs – where the mainstream meets the aristocracy of underground – which will feature Genesis P-Orridge, relevant persona, icon of underground culture, vibrant artist, genius musician (front-man of Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV) and guru or rather founder of TOPY (the Temple Ov Psychic Youth, embodying and developing the ideas of Aleister Crowley, later evolved into Autonomous Individuals Network (AIN). Since 2010 P-Orridge activated the One True Topi Tribe, a reactivation of sorts of the original Temple Ov Psychick Youth, focused on creating an intentional artists community).

“An image posted to Instagram saw the musician and performance artist looking very like the models at the designer’s most recent show
“When you just can’t wait to LEAK.” So wrote Marc Jacobs last night on Instagram, regramming a photo of musical and artistic icon Genesis P-Orridge to his account – and thus seeming to reveal h/er ( en: it would be more correct “V”, pronoun, being its use recognized by Oxford Dictionary for meaning all the ones like the transgender and others would be neutral or fluid to the gender or rather the conventional categories male and female, but I held the text as it was, as I didn’t write it, I just only shared it. Furthermore the artist is known for featuring as panelist of talks and symposiums that were held in famous universities as Yale where V talked about V’s experience, being Pandrogynous, entity formed by V and the late wife Lady Jaye) as one of the faces for his upcoming campaign. In the image, P-Orridge (who found notoriety as part of performance-art-slash-music group COUM Transmissions, as well as with acts including Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV) was pictured with the very particular pin-curled hairstyle, dark eyes and thin brows donned by models at the designer’s AW16 show in March.

Since AW15, Marc Jacobs has used his campaigns as a platform to gather his inspirational band of friends and muses, preferring to drop the images directly on Instagram rather than send around press releases. Past stars have included names as diverse as Winona Ryder, Cher and Willow Smith.
Apparently, the pandrogynous icon P-Orridge (who underwent a series of surgeries from 1993 with late wife Lady Jaye Breyer to transform themselves into one person) spent h/er time on set chatting to Susan Sarandon and bonding over their shared friendship with the Timothy Leary. Leary – the writer and countercultural icon known for publicising psychedelic drugs in the 60s and 70s – and P-Orridge struck up a friendship after Genesis was forced into exile from the UK, with the academic inviting h/er to stay at his Californian home.
It’s not the first time P-Orridge has dipped h/er toes into the industry – having recently starred in a Dazed-debuted video for non-demographic denim label 69 and teamed up with Yang Li for a collaborative collection. However, s/he’s keen to keep it at arm’s length. “My entire life has been avoiding fashion whenever possible except for a couple of exceptions”,”s/he told us back in February – but we can safely assume Jacobs’ work will be one such exception”.

Mi rallegra condividere lo scritto che segue, pubblicato giorni fa da Dazed Digital, la piattaforma virtuale del magazine inglese Dazed & Confused che parla della prossima campagna pubblicitaria di Marc Jacobs – in cui il mainstream incontra l’ aristocrazia dell’ underground – di cui sarà protagonista Genesis P-Orridge, personaggio emblematico, icona della cultura underground, vibrante artista, geniale musicista (leader dei Throbbing Gristle e degli Psychic TV) e guru o meglio fondatore del TOPY , the Temple Ov Psychic Youth, che racchiude in sé e consolida le idee di Aleister Crowley, successivamente evoluto nell’ Autonomous Individuals Network (AIN). Un’ immagine postata su Instagram rivela che il musicista e performance artist sembra molto simile alle modelle della sfilata più recente del designer.
“Quando non vedi l’ora che SI VENGA A SAPERE”. Così ha scritto Marc Jacobs la notte scorsa su Instagram, condividendo una foto dell’ icona musicale e artistica Genesis P-Orridge tramite il suo account – e che così sembra svelare che lui/lei ( nda: sarebbe più corretto “V”, pronome il cui uso è riconosciuto dall’ Oxford Dictionary per indicare tutti coloro che come i trans e altri siano neutrali o fluidi al gender ovvero alle categorie convenzionali maschile e femminile, ma ho mantenuto il testo così come è, non essendo da me stato scritto, ma condiviso. L’ artista peraltro è noto per aver parlato nelle vesti di panelist durante talk e simposi a prestigiose università quali Yale della sua esperienza, dell’ esser Pandrogino, creatura formata da lui e dalla defunta moglie Lady Jaye) sia uno dei volti della sua prossima campagna pubblicitaria. Nella foto, P-Orridge (che si è fatto conoscere per esser parte del collettivo artistico-musicale COUM Transmissions, come anche dei Throbbing Gristle e degli Psychic TV) appariva con la medesima particolare acconciatura ondulata, gli occhi scuri e le sopracciglia sottili che avevano le modelle alla sfilata della collezione autunno/inverno 2016 a marzo.
A partire dalla collezione autunno/inverno 2015, Marc Jacobs ha usato le sue campagne pubblicitarie come una piattaforma per riunire il suo gruppo ispiratore di amici e muse, preferendo far circolare le immagini direttamente su Instagram piuttosto che inviarle in giro per uffici stampa. Le star precedenti avevano compreso nomi talmente diversi Winona Ryder, Cher e Willow Smith.
