Malcom McLaren, genius, eclectic individual, who, along her wife Vivienne Westwood – created the iconic SEX Boutique in London – , codified the punk subculture during the Seventies, changing the face of music, fashion and style. He was well known as the creator of the British punk band Sex Pistols and later of band Bow Wow Wow. A catalyst of ideas, signs and culture as it has also evidenced by his work as singer. I like to remember the music track he made “Deep in Vogue” from the early Eighties, where he developed a trend arisen in the gay clubbing scene since the Sixties, the “Voguing” dance ( which, later, in the early Nineties Madonna brought into the pop culture with the music video “Vogue “). In 1980, he asked to the writer Barry Cain for helping to make his story, “Malcom McLaren: the autobiography”( Red Planet, 368 pages, $26.95), whichwill be released on 3rd March 2020. A not to be missed book to know more about an age, its culture, an awesome mind and his brilliant work.

Mi piace ricordare la sua traccia musicale “Deep in Vogue”, risalente ai primi anni Ottanta, in cui ha consolidato un trend nato nella scena dei club gay a partire dagli anni Sessanta, il ballo “Voguing” ( che più tardi, agli inizi degli anni Novanta Madonna ha sdoganato nella cultura pop con il video musicale “Vogue”). Nel 1980, ha chiesto allo scrittore Barry Cain di aiutarlo a realizzare la sua storia, “Malcom McLaren: the autobiography”( Red Planet, 368 pages, $26.95), che sarà pubblicato il 3 marzo 2020. Un libro imperdibile per conoscere di più su un’ epoca, la sua cultura, una superba mente e il suo brillante lavoro.
It will be released on 24th May 2019 “California Son”(BMG), the latest album of Morrisey, featuring a smashing series of covers, twelve tracks from Sixties and Seventies under the sign of pop, glam rock and folk suggestions. Awesome is “It’s over”, celebrated track by Roy Orbison he performed along the bright singer LP where his melancholic sign enhances its own intensity. Mina Murray is a talented photographer – calling herself a “polagrapher”, as it uses polaroids along with film photography in smashing ways -, based in Paris who recently made an awesome photo shooting – made by using for the make-up vegan products by Vegan Mania, E.L.F. and Ecco Bella – featuring the vibrant and bright multi-disciplinary artist, author and songwriter France de Griessen. It’s a dreamlike landscape, an intimist tale which is peopled by delicacy, mystery, incisiveness and art, where it appears the music and its tracks, the ones that are impressed on the skin of France along with the instrument she plays, the guitar, a Fender Paramount Standard Parlor.

Uno scenario onirico, un racconto intimista, popolato da delicatezza, mistero, incisività, arte in cui appare anche la musica e le sue tracce, quelle impresse sulla pelle di France unitamente allo strumento che suona, la chitarra, una Fender Paramount Standard Parlor.

It was released the trailer of NU(I)T, artistic project joining different disciplines as film, performance art, music and poetry, ideated by the iconic, vibrant artist and beloved friend Alex Zapak aka The Countess, who is the founder of art movement The Cunt Rock Revolution, band and artistic collective later turned into The Countess and Cun$t Rock Revolution and the Bank of Imaginations Theatre. This project has previewed weeks ago in Berlin during the fashion week and featured the live performance of The Stooges. I am very pleased of talking about NU(I)T, arising from the creativity of a visionary artist as well as I am into all that, or rather I am as poem, “Poem for Nunzia” – which follows – Alex wrote and gave me as a gift. That is much more than a gift, it’s electricity, energy and its sharing, a value I celebrate. Hopefully I will tell you soon more about this marvelous project as well as new dates, not to be missed happenings to discover and enjoy The Countess.

NU(I)T, IL VISIONARIO PROGETTO ARTISTICO DI THE COUNTESS

È stato pubblicato il trailer di NU(I)T, progetto artistic che unisce differenti discipline quali il cinema, la performance, musica e poesia, ideato dall’ iconica, vibrante artista e cara amica Alex Zapak aka The Countess, fondatrice del movimento artistico The Cunt Rock Revolution, band e collettivo artistico poi trasformato in The Countess and Cun$t Rock Revolution e del Bank of Imaginations Theatre. Questo progetto è stato presentato in anteprima settimane fa a Berlino in occasione della fashion week ed ha avuto quale protagonista l’ esibizione dal vivo degli Stooges. Mi rallegra oltremodo parlare di NU(I)T, poichè è il prodotto della creatività di un’ artista visionaria e anche perché ci sono al suo interno, o meglio ci sono sotto forma di poesia, “Poem for Nunzia” – che equivale a “Poesia per Nunzia” il cui testo segue e ho deliberatamente mantenuto nella lingua originale – che Alex mi ha scritto e donato. Ciò è molto più di un dono, è elettricità, energia e la sua condivisione, un valore che celebro. Sperabilmente presto vi dirò di più su questo meraviglioso lavoro come anche nuove date, eventi imperdibili per scoprire e apprezzare The Countess.

A lots of concerts and events paid homage to David Bowie – legendary artist who passed away in January – that were held in New York as the “David Bowie Tribute” at the Carnegie Hall and “The Music of David Bowie” at the Radio Music City Hall. Recently David Byne, Kimbra and The Roots performed a cover of “Fame” – celebrated track Bowie wrote along with Carlos Alomar and John Lennon – during the opening of the induction ceremony of Rock & Roll of Fame 2016 edition, which took place in New York at the Barclays Center. These smashing events evidence a known fact, the relevance of a genius, an icon, David Bowie and his artistic heritage, which is eternal.
TRIBUTI, CELEBRAZIONI E OMAGGI A DAVID BOWIE
Svariati concerti ed eventi hanno reso omaggio a David Bowie – artista leggendario venuto a mancare a gennaio – che si sono tenuti a New York quali il “David Bowie Tribute” al Carnegie Hall e “The Music of David Bowie” al Radio Music City Hall. Recentemente David Byne, Kimbra e The Roots hanno eseguito una cover di “Fame” – celebre brano scritto da Bowie insieme a Carlos Alomar e John Lennon – in occasione dell’ apertura della cerimonia di ingresso di nuovi artisti dell’ edizione 2016 della Rock & Roll of Fame 2016 che ha avuto luogo a New York presso il Barclays Center. Questi formidabili eventi testimoniano un fatto notorio, l’ importanza di un genio, un’ icona, David Bowie e della sua eredità artistica che è eterna.
“Nerissimo”, superlative qualifying adjective (standing as “Blackest“) representing a non-color, the black, embodying all of the colors. An incubator of possibilities, metaphor of deepness, vitality and dynamism which is connected to that (if, as I think, it interprets life as moving towards something), this is the title of new album ( Specula Records) by Teho Teardo and Blixa Bargeld, sublime work under the sign of refined experimentation which recalls the alchemic Nigredo or Blackness, the first phase of alchemic process (resuming in the sentence “we haven’t eyes to see and making concrete in the self-observation and memory of self) or rather the death of ego, all of the personal desires where every material, psychic and spiritual element is put putrefying in order to become a black and undivided whole. A genuine spiritual path, made concrete in everyday life of human acting, being intimist and silent, a technique or rather art which finds a new context, the music, the construction of an album. Methodical, continuous rhythm, resulting from a deep search and introspection, made of many phases and allegories, as the reinterpretation of mysterious painting by Hans Holbein The Younger, “The ambassadors”- which is animated in the music video of “The beast”, single track included in the second album of brilliant artists duo – full of Masonic and alchemic symbols: the set square, compass, clocks, a goniometer, objects also representing the quadrivium or music, arithmetic, astronomy and geometry. It shines that research of sounds, spiritual dimensions, drawing another reality which is free from negative imaginations and emotions, going beyond the appearance, what the eye cannot see. Intensity, lyricism, elegance features in this sound architecture and the ten music tracks it contains, a genuine experience of beauty, as well as the chance of enjoying the two artists in a live performances during the four Italian dates of their European tour – which is already started – or 4th May 2016 in Rome at the Teatro Quirinetta, 5th May 2016 in the Bologna Locomotiv Club and 8th May in Milan, at the Santeria Social Club.

“Nerissimo”, aggettivo qualificativo superlativo che rappresenta un non-colore, il nero, che racchiude tutti i colori. Un incubatore di possibilità, metafora di profondità, vitalità e il dinamismo a essa legato ( se per vita si intende come ritengo: “movimento verso qualcosa”), questo è il titolo del nuovo album (Specula Records) di Teho Teardo e Blixa Bargeld, sublime lavoro di raffinata sperimentazione che richiama l’ alchemica Nigredo o Opera al nero, la prima fase del processo alchemico (che si riassume nell’ affermazione “non abbiamo occhi per vedere” e si articola nell’ auto-osservazione e nel ricordo di sé) ovvero della morte dell’ Io, di tutti i desideri personali, in cui ogni elemento materiale, psichico e spirituale viene gettato in un luogo di putrefazione per diventare parte di un tutto nero e indiviso. Un autentico cammino spirituale, concretizzato nella quotidianità dell’ agire umano, intimistico e silenzioso, una tecnica o meglio arte che trova un nuovo contesto, la musica, la costruzione di un album. Metodico ritmo continuativo, risultato di una profonda ricerca e introspezione, che si articola in più fasi e plurime allegorie, una tra tutte è la reinterpretazione dell’ enigmatico dipinto di Hans Holbein il Giovane , “Gli ambasciatori” – che è animato nel video di “The beast”, singolo incluso nel secondo album del brillante duo di artisti -, pervaso di simboli massonici e alchemici: la squadra, il compasso, gli orologi, un goniometro, oggetti che peraltro simboleggiano l’ arte del quadrivio ovvero la musica, aritmetica, astronomia e geometria. Splende quella ricerca di suoni, dimensioni spirituali, che disegna un’ altra realtà epurata da immaginazioni ed emozioni negative e va oltre le apparenze, ciò che l’ occhio non può vedere. Intensità, lirismo, eleganza accompagna questa architettura sonora ed i dieci brani che essa contiene, un’ autentica esperienza del bello, come anche la possibilità di apprezzare i due artisti dal vivo in occasione delle quattro date italiane del loro tour europeo – che è già iniziato – ovvero il 4 maggio 2016 a Roma presso il Teatro Quirinetta, il 5 maggio 2016 al Locomotiv Club di Bologna e l’ 8 maggio a Milano, al Santeria Social Club.
