“DR. DEE”, AN ENGLISH OPERA BY DAMON ALBARN

It will be released on 7^th May 2012 “Dr. Dee”(Parlophone), the album-opera thought for theatre, made by Damon Albarn – front-man of Blur and creator of Gorillaz band – teaming with the director Rufus Norris, recorded with the BBC Philarmonic Orchestra and staged during the Manchester International Theatre Festival inspired to the persona of John Dee – who lived during the Sixteenth century and has been councilor of Queen Elisabeth 1^st, alchemist, astrologist, mathematician and also spy – as well as to the comics by Alan Moore and, featuring a “strange pastoral folk” – as the artist asserts – and joining his voice to the first British choruses, African and Renaissance sounds. A little masterpiece for all the ones who are devoted to the work of a bright artist.

Sarà pubblicato il 7 maggio 2012 “Dr. Dee”(Parlophone), l’ album-opera pensata per il teatro, realizzata da Damon Albarn – leader dei Blur e creatore dei Gorillaz – in collaborazione con il regista Rufus Norris, registrata con la BBC Philarmonic Orchestra e messa in scena durante il Festival Internazionale di Teatro di Manchester che si ispira John Dee – che é vissuto nel sedicesimo secolo ed é stato consigliere di Elisabetta I, alchimista, astrologo, matematico ed anche spia – come anche ai fumetti di Alan Moore di cui è protagonista uno “strano folk pastorale” – come afferma l’ artista – e unisce la sua voce ai primi cori inglesi, sonorità africane e rinascimentali. Un piccolo capolavoro per coloro che sono devoti all’ opera di un brillante artista.
