Genuine little, big masterpieces, artworks are the Lucite (acrylic resin, known also as polymethylacrylate) bags hand carved by Joyce Francis , the Manhattan based artist, winner of the prestigious Gladys Blum Award from the National Academy of Fine Arts, who makes these bags, embodying patterns inspired by nature, unique pieces by using twenty five different sized dentist drills in a medium referred to as “cold carving”. The creations Joyce made are in the permanent collection of  London Victoria & Albert Museum, the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art and are exclusively available at the smashing and catchy New York concept store Blue Tree – placed in Manhattan, in 1283 Madison Avenue – under the sign of uniqueness and a timeless style, created in 2005 by the celebrated ex actress and singer Phoebe Cates.

Autentici, piccoli, grandi capolavori, opere d’ arte sono le borse di Lucite (resina acrilica, nota anche come polimetilacrilato) scolpite a mano da Joyce Francis che racchiudono motivi ispirati dalla natura, artista che vive a Manhattan, vincitrice del prestigioso Gladys Blum Award della National Academy of Fine Arts, la quale realizza queste borse, le quali racchiudono motivi che si ispirano alla natura, pezzi unici avvalendosi di venticique Trapani da dentista di diverse misure in una mezzo espressivo denominato “scultura a freddo”. It will be screened on 15th August 2013, at 7:00 pm, at the New York Museum of Art and Design the documentary “An evening with Quentin Crisp & Penny Arcade”, a smashing film depicting the art and wisdom of Quentin Crisp, an Englishman in New York and  reminding me the song by Sting dedicated to the artist. A story under the sign of romanticism, power of ideas, dandyism and art. The film is part of a wider project, “The Lower East Side Biography Project”, created in 1999 by the vibrant performance artist Penny Arcade and video producer Steve Zehentner as a biography series and oral history archive in order to ensure future generations have access to the mad souls of invention and rebellion that built the New York Lower East Side’s international reputation, area considered as an incubator for authenticity and iconoclasm in art, culture and politics. A not to be missed  - free – event to enjoy and know more and better about an iconic artist.

Sarà proiettato il 15agosto 2013, alle ore 19:00, presso il Museum of Art and Design di New York il documentario “An evening with Quentin Crisp & Penny Arcade”, una formidabile pellicola che ritrae l’ arte e la saggezza di Quentin Crisp, un Englishman in New York e mi ricorda la canzone di Sting dedicata all’ artista. Una storia all’ insegna di romanticismo, potere delle idee, dandismo e arte. La pellicola è parte di un progetto più ampio, “The Lower East Side Biography Project”, creato nel 1999 dalla vibrante performance artist Penny Arcade e dal video producer Steve Zehentner quale serie di biografie e archivio storico orale al fine di consentire alle future generazioni di accedere alle anime gravide di quell’  estro e ribellione che ha costruito la reputazione internazionale della Lower East Side di New York, area considerata un incubatore dell’ autenticità e iconoclastia nell’ arte, cultura e politica. A smashing soundtrack along with many portraits of legendary artists as Blondie, Ramones, Patti Smith, Police, Lou Reed, Talking heads and Iggy Pop features in CGGB, movie directed by Randall Miller, telling about the story of celebrated New York club CBGB (Country Bluegrass and Blues), place where the rock and roll and punk was born. The movie which will be presented on Fall in USA, talks about the club owned by Hilly Kristal, interpreted by Alan Rickman(the cast includes also Ashley Greene, Donald Logue, Ryan Hurst, Johnny Galecki, Stana Katic and Rupert Grint), who supported the artists to every cost and obliged them to perform in the club, singing just only their original music and no covers. A smashing portrait of an age, a prolific age for rock, a not to be missed movie for all the ones who are devoted to music and its suggestions.

Una formidabile colonna sonora unitamente a plurimi ritratti di artisti leggendari quali Blondie, Ramones, Patti Smith, Police, Lou Reed, Talking heads e Iggy Pop sono i protagonisti di CGGB, film diretto da Randall Miller che racconta la storia del celebre club newyorkese CBGB (Country Bluegrass and Blues) luogo in cui è nato il rock and roll e il punk. Il film che sarà presentato in autunno negli USA, parla del club di proprietà di Hilly Kristal, interpretato da Alan Rickman(il cast include anche Ashley Greene, Donald Logue, Ryan Hurst, Johnny Galecki, Stana Katic e Rupert Grint), che supportava gli artisti a ogni costo e li obbligava a esibirsi nel club, suonando soltantola loro musica e nessuna cover. It returns Weimar New York, after the show held in 2012 to support the elections of Obama, show ideated by Earl Dax, hosted by the brilliant and inimitable Justin Vivian Bond which will be staged on 2nd and 3rd August 2013 in New York during Bard Summerscape at the Bard. The show, an assertive show, explores the subversive decadence giving rise to an enchanting parallel between the Weimar era and contemporary times, told by a sparkling alchemy made of burlesque, cabaret and drag performances, featuring renowned artists from the Downtown New York art scene as Julie Atlas Muz, Penny Arcade, Darrell Thorne, Tigger, Nicholas Gorham and Matthew Charles Crosland. A not to missed happening to enjoy a show, art, music, have fun and think about ideas as identity, dependence and independence.

Alan Cumming, eclectic and powerful artist, is currently on the stage of Broadway Barrymore theater, featuring in the show “Macbeth”, directed by John Tiffany and Andrew Golberg which runs through 14th July 2013, interpreting Lady Macbeth along with other roles, a genuine one-man show where Macbeth isn’t Macbeth, but he is the portrait of Macbeth from a mad man being in a psychiatric hospital. The brilliant stage animal has recently worked on another other project under the sign of Shakespearian suggestions, releasing a CD, “The head that wears the crown, speeches for royal men by William Shakespeare”, produced by GPRrecords and he has also made a smashing cover of the celebrated track “Why” by Annie Lennox. A vibrant artist to enjoy who always succeeds to amaze and enchant.

Chris Sutton is raising funds on Kickstarter to create a fashion film accompanying the exhibition “Punk: chaos to couture”, the wider showcase documenting a subculture, the punk and its style which will be opened on 9th May 2013 in New York at the MET Museum – running through 14th August 2013 -, curated by Andrew Bolton and featuring as creative consultant Nick Knight who invited Chris Sutton to make a film.

A contemporary reflection on the punk and on the Met exhibition themes which represents the debut of Chris Sutton Studio. There are just sixteen days for the end of fundraising, thus let’s join and support, giving our modest contribution to make concrete this smashing artistic project and celebrate an unforgettable movement (where the nihilism was vibrant and dynamic critique instead if the static one featuring frequently in the contemporary times) and its fashion suggestions.

Chris Sutton sta raccogliendo fondi su Kickstarter  per creare un fashion film che accompagna la mostra “Punk: chaos to couture”, la più ampia esposizione che documenta una subcultura e il suo stile che sarà inaugurata il 9 maggio 2013 a New York presso il MET Museum – che proseguirà fino al 14 agosto 2013 -, curata da Andrew Bolton e che ha Nick Knight nelle vesti di direttore creativo il quale ha invitato Chris Sutton a realizzare una pellicola.

Una riflessione contemporanea sul punk e sui temi della mostra al Met che rappresenta il debutto del Chris Sutton Studio. Restano soltanto sedici giorni per la chiusura della raccolta fondi, pertanto uniamoci e sosteniamo, dando il nostro modesto contributo, per rendere concreto questo formidabile progetto artistico e celebrare un indimenticabile movimento (in cui il nichilismo era una vibrante critica diversamente dalla stasi sovente protagonista della contemporaneità) e le sue suggestioni moda.
