Floracult
Floracult shines a light on nature with a focus on sustainability and its culture with the book launch of “La mia vita a impatto zero” (My zero impact life) by Paola Maugeri. Paola Maugeri is known as VJ for Videomusic and MTV, a bright and warm-hearted individual who talked about her experiences, which she writes in her book: to have a zero impact lifestyle.

Though – as she asserted – it is not possible to have a zero impact lifestyle, a word she used to depict a lifestyle which is more conscious, respectful for the nature and its seasonal cycles. Her experiment consisted of living without electric energy, having water warmed by solar panels, reducing the use of computers and mobile phones to three hours a day and eating the seasonal food (Paola is also vegan) as well as using candles instead of electric lights. She ate at 5:30 pm and slept at 6:30 pm.
This experience brought her new consciousnesses as well as a new time, a time she didn’t think of having, time to walk with her son, time to talk with herself, a time to think and read a book. She never had this as she, like most individuals in our times, focused on efficiency. She spoke about the difference between what is important and urgent, two simple words that reveal the (true or false) priorities that concern the behavior of a human being. The result of this experience has been a re-defining of her priorities. This change enriched her and she had the desire to share it with everyone because she sees living as sharing.

Sustainability but also a hilarious interlude I shared with my darling friend of mine, the little big Emma Santamaria, sweet, beautiful and bright daughter of Delfina Delettrez and Claudio Santamaria, with pampers, phenomenology of tongue which licks the ice-cream, tales, as the tale of the book launch of “Rosa Sublime”.
I told her about my hilarious tale (focused on my sunshade I couldn’t use as I thought) for ten consecutive times. A practice which made me smile as it reminded of me when I asked my mother for telling me a tale for ten consecutive times and if her voice was not enough clear I told her of drinking the water and continuing(like a little dictator).

The value of sustainability was also made concrete by “Victory garden”, the hydroponics laboratory of Studio Mobile of Antonio Girardi and Cristiana Favretto, bright architects and dear friends, who are focused on the creation of hydroponics systems in order to avoid the waste of water. They proved that the hydroponics technique used for a vegetable garden saves over the 70% of water.

Last but not least, walking with Silvia Venturini Fendi I also discovered a wide selection of linen made out of vintage textiles from the 30′s the linen came from both Italy and Eastern Europe which evoked the scent, freshness and softness of a cloth which is rare to find today.

Floracult getta luce sulla natura, soffermandosi sulla sostenibilità e la sua cultura con la presentazione del libro di Paola Maugeri “La mia vita a impatto zero” (My zero impact life). Paola Maugeri è nota quale VJ di Videomusic e MTV, una brillante e calorosa individualità che ha parlato delle sue esperienze che scrive nel suo libro: avere uno stile di vita a impatto zero.

Pur non essendo possibile – come é stato da lei affermato – avere uno stile di vita a impatto zero, una parola da lei usata per dipingere uno stile di vita che è più consapevole, rispettoso della natura e dei suoi cicli stagionali. Il suo esperimento consisteva nel vivere senza energia elettrica, avendo l’ acqua riscaldata dai pannelli solari, riducendo l’ uso di computer e cellulari a tre ore al giorno e mangiando il cibo di stagione (Paola è anche vegana) come anche usare le candele al posto dell’ energia elettrica. Costei mangiava alle ore 17:30 e andava a dormire alle ore 18:30.
Questa esperienza è stata per lei foriera di nuove consapevolezze come anche di un nuovo tempo, un tempo che non pensava di avere, tempo per passeggiare con suo figlio, tempo per pensare e leggere un libro. Non ha mai avuto ciò poiché, come la maggior parte degli individui della nostra epoca, si soffermava sull’ efficienza. Ha parlato della differenza tra ciò che è importante e urgente, due semplici parole che rivelano le priorità ( vere o false) che riguardano il comportamento di un essere umano. Il risultato di questa esperienza è stata una ridefinizione delle sue priorità. Questo cambiamento la arricchita ed ha avuto il desiderio di condividere con tutti ciò poichè vede la vita come condivisione.
Sostenibilità ma anche un ilare intermezzo che ho condiviso con una carissima amica mia, la piccola grande Emma Santamaria, dolce, bella e brillante figlia di Delfina Delettrez e Claudio Santamaria, con coccole, fenomenologia della lingua che lecca il gelato, racconti come il racconto della presentazione del libro pampers “Rosa Sublime”.

Le ho raccontato la mia ilare storia (incentrata sul mio parasole che non ho potuto usare diversamente da come pensavo) per dieci volte consecutive. Una pratica che mi ha fatto sorridere poichè mi ricordava quando chiedevo a mia madre di raccontarmi una storia per dieci volte consecutive e se la sua voce non era abbastanza chiara le dicevo di bere l’ acqua e continuare (come un piccolo dittatore).

Il valore della sostenibilità è stato anche concretizzato da “Victory garden”, il laboratorio di idroponica di Studio Mobile di Antonio Girardi e Cristiana Favretto, brillanti architetti e cari amici che sono dediti alla creazione di sistemi idroponici al fice di evitare lo spreco di acqua. Hanno dimostrato che la tecnica idroponica usata per un orto risparmia oltre il 70% di acqua.

Ultimo ma non meno importante, passeggiando con Silvia Venturini Fendi ho anche scoperto una ampia selezione di lino, fatto di tessuti vintage degli Anni ’30, il lino proveniva sia dall’ Italia sia dall’ Est Europa che evocava il profumo, la freschezza e morbidezza di un tessuto che è raro da trovare oggi.
