I, Cockette, an event which will be held on 2nd April 2010 in New York at the LGBT Center hosted by Rumi Missabu of The Cockettes – legendary flamboyant San Francisco ensemble of hippies – women, gay men, and babies – which during the late Sixties and Seventies decked out in gender-bending drag and tons of glitter for a series of legendary midnight musicals as “Tinsel Tarts in a Hot Coma“ and “Pearls over Shanghai”, featuring elaborate costumes, rebellious sexuality, and exuberant chaos, celebrated by the feature length documentary made by David Weissman and Bill Weber – including rare screenings of The Cockettes – as “Tree, your sap beats gently against mine”, “Palace 1971” and “Elevator girls in bondage” – along with new work by filmmakers Ben Wa, Joe Jeffreys and Robert Oppel and also performances of Francois Chaignaud. A not to be missed happening to enjoy a night of glamour and anarchy!

I, Cockette, un evento che si terrà il 2 aprile 2010 a New York presso il LGBT Center , presentato da Rumi Missabu delle Cockettes – leggendario gruppo flamboyant di San Francisco di hippies – donne, gay e bambini – che alla fine degli anni Sessanta ed all’inizio anni Settanta si è ornata di travestimenti drag e tonnellate di glitter per una serie di indimenticabili musical quali “Tinsel Tarts in a Hot Coma“ and “Pearls over Shanghai”in cui protagonisti erano costumi elaborati, ribelle sessualità ed esuberante chaos, celebrata dal documentario realizzato da David Weissman e Bill Weber – che include rare proiezioni delle The Cockettes – quali “Tree, your sap beats gently against mine”, “Palace 1971” e “Elevator girls in bondage” – unitamente al nuovo lavoro dei registi Ben Wa, Joe Jeffreys e Robert Oppel ed anche la performance di Francois Chaignaud. Un appuntamento imperdibile per godersi una notte di glamour e anarchia!
